Unfortunately, after just a couple days of use, the dispenser started to emit a strong odor. This was probably due to the absence of a filter, which could be a bigger problem for those who opt for larger containers(I bought the small size). Please do not buy this thinking that you can leave it out for weeks without regular maintenance. Other than that, the product works as described.

This water source is well made and easy to use. I like the fact that the bowl is metal rather than plastic. I found it easy to clean.
There were only a couple issues. We have four dogs. I noticed that the bowl collects a lot of drool and other bits of debris. I couldn’t figure out a way to clean the bowl without taking the unit apart.
Also, none of our four dogs were thrilled with using this. They all but one started going to a water bowl located in another room.
For those two reasons, I am going back to using regular water bowls and plan to donate this.

This thing is AMAZING. I had a different version a couple of years ago that got water everywhere when I refilled it. This has a great spill-proof lid and plunger. You can turn the water jug completely upside down and no leaks! The water is released when you put in the base.
The stainless steel bowl is rust-proof and easy to clean for removal. I purchased my first one about a year ago and decided to get a second because my two 80lb dogs were going through one every two or three days in the TX summer.

As my son constantly kept walking into the dog water bowl, or things fell in the bowl. I decided to try this. It takes some getting used to as what you think is the top where the water goes isn’t and there is an art to fitting it and turning it over.
As I have 3 dogs they can drink a lot of water, given they see how much water I drink. So instead of filling the water vdish several times a day, this is good incase I am ill or forget to check.
It holds a lot of water so those who have difficulty with heavy lifting or you Co ordination is out, it’s not for you.
It’s best to stand the plastic water container on a table or worktop, align the dish with the arrow and then look on top at the fittings as you spin it round to connect to ensure its locked as it can deceive you and sit loose. Carry it then upside down to near where you are putting and if you can bend over as you turn it over, quicker you are you don’t spill the water as it comes out. Needed a new water bowl for our 20lb dog and after looking for some tile decided to try this one. I was looking for stainless steel because it’s more hygienic. It came with one water filter but since we have good water where we live I didn’t buy new ones after. But is a great option. Our dog goes through this in about one week which is good because by then the bowl needs to be cleaned anyways. The larger one would last longer but again it gets dirty from the dogs mouth and hair and you really wouldn’t want it any bigger for the size of dog we have anyways. All in all we are happy with it. Been using it for a couple years now and nothing has broken and works as it should. Only thing to mention is on the inside of the lid where the water comes out there is a spring that lets the water out when needed, make sure you clean this as it will get a bit slimy around the spring if you don’t keep on-top of it.

I bought this dispenser for three reasons: 1. It looked like you could fill it from the top. 2: Filter and stainless steel removable bowl. And 3. More stylish than other dispensers.
I was impressed. Solid build, large enough to last through two dogs drinking from it, and to handle to make it easy to lift into place. And it looks really nice. It’s much easier to fill die to the handle and the unique design. Our last one that looked like a huge water cooler jug was awful. And the cap does screw on which is great.
From the photos I saw I would swear the black handle on top was a screw off cap to make it easy to fill from the top. It is not at all what it looks like, it’s simply a handle to carry it by. In retrospect that makes total sense but I was hopeful.

I got the largest size, and have since went from filling my dog’s bowl at least twice daily to about twice monthly.
This thing is quite convenient (though admittedly it takes about 5+ minutes to fill this thing) and it’s beneficial to my dog’s health as it ensures he always has as much water as he cares to drink. This is great, cause many times I’d come home after a long day to find a very thirsty Labrador with an empty water dish.
As far as using this thing, I found it very simple to set up and have had no problems and/or leaks. You simply flip over and fill the jug portion from the bottom, tightly screw on the jug’s cap, flip the jug back over and screw it into the bowl-base. Gravity does all the rest of the work from there.
